Viscira® Leverages Microsoft HoloLens to Deliver Unique Mixed Reality Solutions

Multiple reports have predicted that, within 10 years, Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR) could produce revenue in the tens of billions of dollars. A recent industry report on the future of AR/VR from September 2016 also estimated that roughly 25% of the investment in this technology will be directed to healthcare.

Viscira, a leading provider of digital marketing solutions and software products for the life sciences industry, has recognized this opportunity and is actively capitalizing on these advancements by offering innovative VR and AR solutions that communicate healthcare information in very personal and immersive ways.  Most recently, the company has begun development efforts using the Microsoft HoloLens, a mixed reality, holographic headset that incorporates both virtual reality and augmented reality by seamlessly blending high-definition holograms with the real world.

Viscira's HoloLens solutions aim to create networked VR experiences by connecting health care professionals (HCPs) remotely and transporting them into 3D virtual worlds. These worlds can depict a mechanism of action of a drug or a virtual conference environment. For example, the HoloLens might “teleport” a hologram of a Key Opinion Leader (KOL) enabling them to speak directly in front of a health care professional in their own environment (e.g. office, living room, etc.). This would simulate the experience of presenting to someone in person in the same physical space, while offering the convenience of remote attendance.

Rodwin Pabello, Viscira’s Director of Product Development, commented on the use of mixed reality technology for developing compelling communication programs for its clients. "We are very excited about the advancements we are seeing with VR/AR technology and what they can do for medical communication and marketing. We are exploring many different applications for using the Microsoft HoloLens. In the future, this type of technology might even supplant the iPad as a primary tool for interaction between a pharma sales rep and a healthcare professional."

Viscira's virtual and augmented reality solutions are examples of the innovative, interactive software applications and digital solutions the company offers. Viscira’s strategic approach, combined with its delivery of cutting-edge products, has resulted in an impressive roster of clients that includes 21 of the top 25 pharma and biotech companies in the world.
